4k Downhill Dash

So you always wanted to take on the Coatesville Half Marathon but Heartbreak Hill put you off? Now you have no excuse with the introduction of the 4k Downhill Dash in 2015. The event starts at the half way mark of the 8K Classic near The Prom on Ridge Rd. Buses will transport you from the 8k start line outside the Coatesville Settlers Hall to the muster area in The Prom (your entry fee includes your $4 bus transfer). The course is almost entirely downhill so if you prefer running down the hill rather than up … this one’s for you!

Course Description

Start to Coateville Heights: 0 -2km
The course is flat for the first 1.5km as you take the right hand turn into Glenmore Road and a flat section takes you to the out-and-back on Donaldson Drive. There is one gentle uplhill to the 4km mark opposite Coatesville Heights. It is all downhill from here!

Glenmore: 2 – 4 km
It’s all downhill from the 2km mark (6k of the 8k Classic), gentle at first but getting steeper as you draw closer to the village. On the final section of Glenmore Road, you’ll be able to hear the sound of the finish line, but keep something in reserve as you still have a little way to go.

The Finish
Enter the Coatesville Pony Club Reserve with around 300 metres to go and follow the white gravel path under the shade trees. A second gate takes you into Coatesville Reserve where your finish line, medal and the cheers of the crowd await. You made it!
